This is a pattern that is quite similar to the classic Basket Weave pattern but with slightly longer columns.

Here are the instructions:

 Vertical Basket Weave

Multiple of 6 plus 4.

Use the needles that the yarn calls for.

Repeat from * to *

Note: On rows 7,8,9 and 10, the instructions are written as the repetition is technically written but the look would be alternating rows with 1,2,3,and 4. 

     Example, row 7.-(purl 1, knit 2, purl 4…end with knit 2, purl 1

Cast on stitches any way you wish.

Row 1.- *purl 4, knit 2* end with purl 4.

Row 2.- *knit 4, purl 2* end with knit 4.

Row 3.- *purl 4, knit 2* end with purl 4.

Row 4.- *knit 4, purl 2* end with knit 4.

Row 5.- Knit

Row 6.- Purl

Row 7.- *purl 1, knit 2, purl 3* last 4 stitches: purl 1, knit 2, purl 1. 

Row 8.- *knit 1, purl 2, knit 3* last 4 stitches: knit 1, purl 2, knit 1.

Row 9.- *purl 1, knit 2, purl 3* last 4 stitches: purl 1, knit 2, purl 1. 

Row 10.- *knit 1, purl 2, knit 3* last 4 stitches: knit 1, purl 2, knit 1.

Row 11.- Knit

Row 12.- Purl

Repeat these 12 rows for pattern.
