Potato Chip Scarf or Spiral Scarf

Potato Chip Scarf

This spiral scarf is often referred to as a ‘potato chip scarf’ because it looks like Pringle’s.

So what makes it spiral like that?

The core of this piece stays even while the sides get increased and decreased creating a wavy pattern.

Pattern Instructions
Potato Chip Scarf

Cast on 20 stitches.
Use the number needles that the yarn calls for.

Wrap: When you turn, using the left needle, pick up the next stitch on the right hand needle, pass the yarn to the back, bring back the stitch to the left.

Row 1.- Knit 20.
Rows 2 and 3.- Knit 4, turn work, wrap, knit back these 4.
Rows 4 and 5.- Knit 6, turn work, wrap, knit back these 6.
Rows 6 and 7.- Knit 8, turn work, wrap, knit back these 8.
Row 8.- Knit 20.
You are now on the other side of work and you repeat rows 2 to 8
until you have the desired length.
