So I’ve been really into creating these wall hangings.
I made this one for my dad’s office and hs really turned out to look quite amazing. It is a project I had in mind for our collaboration with Knitter’s Pride, so it is a win-win kind of creative endeavor.
Here are the instructions:
Pointy Waves Knitted Wall Hanging
Materials:
-Any kind of yarn with two or three sizes bigger needles. I used my regular worsted weight yarn and size
-I used my 41 cm 9 (16 in) swivel cord and US 11 (8mm) knitting needles from my new Heirloom Set from the Lantern Moon Collection at Knitter’s Pride.
–Sharp Scissors
-Sewing needle, big enough to fit the thick yarn through and between the stick and knitted fabric/
-Found wooden sticks ( mine are ocean driftwood).
THE PATTERN:
-
I casted on 44 stitches, the Pointy Waves pattern I used calls for a multiple of 14 plus two edge stitches, (14+ 14+ 14 +2= 44)
-
Four rows of garter (knit all stitches for 4 rows)
-
4 reps of The Pointy Waves Pattern
Row 1.- k1 *k4, yo, ssk, yo, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k2tog, yo, k2,* k1.
Rows 2, 4, 6 and 8.- k1, purl to last stitch, k1.
Row 3.- k1, *k1, yo, k2tog, k2, yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2tog,* k1.
Row 5.- k1, *k2, yo, ssk, ssk, yo, ssk, yo, k2tog, yo, k4,* k1
Row 7.- k1, *ssk, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k2, ssk, yo, k1,* k1
-
6 rows of garter (knit all stitches for 6 rows)
-
4 rows of knit, purl alternations (rice stitch)
4 more reps of The Pointy Waves Pattern again
Garter for 6 rows casting off on the 6th
A shorter version of this pattern would also look great. So you could simply knit up to the garter part after the first pointy waves set and cast-off (take off stitches).
Then, you can proceed with making Tassels. You can follow a simple tutorial on that HERE.
