How To Make Slip Knot In Knitting

A slip knot in knitting is a very simple way to get your first stitch on your knitting needles.

It involves making a noose and sliding the knit to tighten around your knitting needles.

From there, you choose which way you want to cast on.

Most people start with the regular cast-on method, while some more adventurous ones learn the quickest method instead: the Long Tail Cast-On.

The third step would be to then start to knit with the regular garter pattern (knit on each row) or with the stockinette pattern (all knit on one side, all purl on the other)

Congratulations! With these simple steps, you can start knitting!

Try making a simple long scarf or some fingerless gloves as a first project idea. Then you can try more complicated assortment of ribbing stitches or more stitch variations like yarn overs, cables, knit togethers, etc.

You will be masttering the slip knot like a pro very soon!
