How To Knit A Cable Headband – Knitted Braid Head Band

Hi lovelies.

We have a lovely project for you to make. It’s one of those super quick and easy knitting patterns that you can make in a few hours and with many types of yarn.

This headband is very simple. stockinette (knit ad purl rows) and classic cable switches, which will help you practice knitting cables (braids) and also leave you with a very fun, trendy headband to wear or gift.

Braided Headband

1 ball of bulky yarn (#6) I used Lion Brand Hometown USA  (5oz.) 81 yds.                                                                                                  

Size #13US knitting needles

Cast on 14 stitches

Row 1.- Knit

Row 2.- Purl

Row 3.- Knit

Row 4.- Purl

Row 5.- knit 1, pick up 4 stitches with your cable needle, put them in the front of your work, knit the next 4, knit the 4 from your cable needle, knit the last 5.

Row 6.- Purl

Row 7.- Knit

Row 8.- Purl

Row 9.- Knit

Row 10.- Purl

Row 11.- Knit 5, pick up 4 stitches with your cable needle and put them in the back of your work knit the next 4, knit the 4 from your cable needle,  knit the last one.

Row 12.- Purl.

Repeat these 12 rows.

I repeated them 5 times. You might need more

Measure the headband to go around your head, snuggly (not tight).
