Knitting is a very relaxing, diverse way to create something that is wearable and beautiful.
But often when we knit, especially at first, we can run into hiccups and make some very common knitting mistakes that can be quite frustrating if we don’t know how to handle them.
These Are The Most Common Knitting Mistakes we often run into while knitting and some solutions for them:
-
Dropped stitches: Use a crochet hook or a smaller knitting needle to pick up the dropped stitch and place it back on the needle in the correct orientation. Here’s a video tutorial to fix a combination of dropped stitches (knit or purl)
-
Extra stitches: Carefully count the stitches on your needle, identify the extra stitch, and then either drop it off the needle or decrease it by knitting two stitches together.
-
Uneven tension: Ensure that you are consistently applying the same amount of tension to each stitch. Practice holding your needles and yarn in a comfortable, consistent way.
-
Twisted stitches: Make sure you are inserting your needle correctly into each stitch. If a stitch is twisted, carefully undo it and re-knit it correctly.
-
Yarn overs: If you accidentally create a yarn over (an extra loop of yarn that creates a hole in your knitting), you can simply knit or purl it together with the following stitch to eliminate the hole.
